“Isn’t technology so awesome? It allows us to be even lazier and produce more work without saying anything.”
“his is where the resistance of the “purists” become the loudest. They complain that mixing cartoons with photos is “heresy”. While some accept the use of adding color to backgrounds, they often reject the use of adding any of the other possibilities. They are coming to be known as the “Cartoon Police” or the “Tea Party Cartoonists” in their narrow-minded zeal to halt these practices and demand others follow only their notions of what constitutes a cartoon. Some are weekly cartoonists who are more like writers and use multi-panels with multi-captions to explain their point of view.”
Adding colors to a cartoon in photoshop and literally copying and pasting from google images are COMPLETELY different!
John Sherffius was another cartoonist where it seemed like he didn’t actually like to draw, and he would often illustrate the news. However, he was way better with photoshop than Day and Gorrell.

Day defends himself using this Neil Armstrong Obit cartoon as evidence…
“Look I photoshopped stars on it so it looks like a flag, get it?”
Even if Day drew out that cartoon is still would have been another lame obit cartoon…
Bill Day adds to the pile of Okay L.A. related word play with this lazily photoshopped together silhouette. Also…Gradients.
Glad to see that indiegogo money helped Bill step up his game.
Seriously, if you cannot communicate something other than “A bad thing happened and america is sad” DO NOT do a cartoon about it.
